Digital Vehicle Processes in France: Valuation, Lease Returns, and Inventory

Valuing vehicles, taking inventory, and processing returns: For car dealers, banks, and leasing companies, what matters is how reliably these processes work in day-to-day operations. Digitalization and artificial intelligence can provide support. The key is whether the results can be used for the next step in the workflow. This question shaped our discussions during our visit to this year's FLOTAUTO 2026 in Lyon. With topics such as cost optimization, efficient vehicle returns, and artificial intelligence in telematics, the event addressed specific challenges facing the French fleet market. In discussions with industry representatives, three key areas of application emerged for which EXCON offers proven solutions.

Dealer Inventory Financing: Making Used Vehicle Values Transparent

When a dealer wants to finance a used vehicle, the bank needs a reliable basis for valuation. General market data provide guidance. To assess an individual vehicle, its actual condition, visible damage, and complete documentation are also important.

ex:fund combines digital vehicle capture via smartphone with AI-assisted damage assessment and vehicle valuation. Banks receive a transparent vehicle valuation and a rules-based recommendation for booking the vehicle against the dealer's credit line. The digital capture provides the information subsequently required to review the financing request.

Digital Vehicle Returns: Preparing for Further Processing

For lease returns, information on vehicle condition, damage, and documentation is required for subsequent inspection, settlement, and further use of the vehicle. The initial vehicle capture should therefore be aligned with these requirements.

EXCON combines damage documentation with AI-assisted assessment and recording of relevant vehicle data in a fully digitalized return process. If required, expert support can be provided through a live inspection.

Complete and clear documentation provides the basis for further processing. Missing information and outstanding inspection items can be requested automatically.

Digital Vehicle Inventory: Simplifying Stocktaking at Dealerships

During inventory checks, dealers must clearly identify vehicles and reconcile them with inventory records. Repeated manual data entry increases the workload and may require corrections.

ex:stock supports digital vehicle inventory management. The new VIN scanner automatically recognizes the Vehicle Identification Number. Recognition also works offline, allowing vehicles to be recorded even in areas with poor reception. The solution works reliably under on-site conditions and reduces the data entry workload for employees.

Experience in the French Market as a Foundation

Through our many years of experience with audits, collateral inspections, and inventory checks in France, we know how important transparent information and practical processes are. We incorporate this experience into the ongoing development of our digital solutions.

“We have been active in the French market for many years. For us, digitalization must therefore prove its value in practice: Can everyone involved reliably use the results for subsequent processes? We use artificial intelligence where it reduces manual work and improves the quality of results.”

Whether it's determining the actual financing value, conducting dealership inventory checks , or processing lease returns: Each task has its own requirements for capturing and processing vehicle data. EXCON combines operational experience in the French market and a Europe-wide auditor network with digital vehicle capture, valuation, and expert inspection. Exchanges at industry events such as FLOTAUTO in Lyon provide new insights that help us work with our clients in France to further develop processes in a targeted manner.
