EU Data Act Vehicle Data Access

EXCON Services GmbH may act as a third party / service provider / data recipient within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 (EU Data Act).
The purpose of this service is to retrieve vehicle data points that are currently or historically available in the backend systems of the respective vehicle manufacturer. Such data retrieval is performed exclusively on the basis of the user's explicit authorization.
EXCON does not intend to perform real-time tracking or to use the data in any manner that could adversely affect the security of the connected vehicle. Access is limited to vehicle data points that are technically available, legally accessible, and expressly authorized by the user through the respective manufacturer's authorization process.
EXCON is neither directly nor indirectly a gatekeeper within the meaning of the EU Data Act.
Depending on the vehicle, manufacturer, activated Connected Services, and the customer's authorization, the following categories of data may in particular be concerned:
- VIN-related vehicle data
- Timestamps
- Odometer / mileage data
- Vehicle status data
- Technical status information
- Diagnostic data, warnings, or fault messages
- Event or usage data
- Location or geolocation data points, where technically available and expressly authorized
The data may be used to support processes in the areas of insurance, financing, leasing, claims handling, vehicle status verification, vehicle recovery/repossession, or comparable operational processes.
EXCON processes such data exclusively for the respective specified and authorized purpose, strictly to the extent necessary, and in compliance with all applicable data protection requirements.
Access to vehicle data requires the customer's explicit authorization. Depending on the manufacturer's process, such authorization may be provided via a manufacturer portal, a customer account, a power of attorney, or another documented authorization procedure.
